This year Slovenia is the host of the biggest and most important bobbin lace event on an international scale, the World Bobbin Lace Congress. From 24 to 26 June the main congress activities will be held in Ljubljana, while the associated ones will take place all over Slovenia.
On this occasion, bobbin lace makers from Municipality of Borovnica, Vrhnika, and Log Dragomer will join forces for the third time to prepare an exhibition titled “New bobbin lace from old patterns”. The bobbin lace makers have scoured their files, rummaged the chests of their parents, searched through the archive in the Idrija Municipal Museum, and focused primarily on the patterns that were conceived before the year of 1970. Most of the selected patterns were the property of two companies: Lace Idrija and Dom Ljubljana. With appropriate threads and proper techniques, the lace makers have initiated reviving the bobbin lace with the greatest attention to detail.

The lace makers would like to invite you to see their handicraft, the kinds of which were a source of additional income for many bobbin lace makers of the previous century.

The exhibition will be open from 18 June to 3 July 2016.
